A narrow turnoff at Km. 98 from Cochabamba, the Miguelito Substation Road is full of potential. Situated along a public road, the area can be birded independently, without need of a guide or an entrance fee, though private transportation is best.
Lodgings along the highway in San Jacinto are not functioning. The closest option for an overnight stay is in Paractí. Ask at La Casita Campestre trout restaurant (on the highway, about 100 m towards Cochabamba from the Paractí turnoff). Doña Norma has two rooms with double bed plus twin bunk in each available at her trout farm. The rooms are basic but clean, with private bath, and make a workable base station for birding the Miguelito Substation Rd, Paractí, and the Corani area.
Take note: nearest gas stations are in Colomi and Villa Tunari.
