| Similar Species Especies Similares | The only earthcreeper throughout virtually its entire range. T. certhioides has rufous forehead, lighter crown and less conspicuous, browner superciliary; tail brown, lower underparts darker. | La única bandurrita en casi todo su rango. T. certhioides tiene la frente rufa, la corona más clara y el superciliar menos distinto y más café; su cola es café y las partes inferiores son más oscuros. |
| Abundance and Habitat Abundancia y Hábitat | Uncommon to fairly common in dry to locally semi-humid scrub, woodland, and disturbed dry forest, especially with abundant terrestrial bromeliads, on eastern Andean slope. Scarce in upper Río La Paz drainage; mostly below 3100 m; to 3350 m in Cochabamba Basin. | Poco común a bastante común en matorrales y arbustales secos a localmente semihúmedos y en bosque seco intervenido, especialmente con abundantes bromelias terrestres, de la ladera este de los Andes. Escasa en la cuenca superior del río La Paz; principalmente debajo de 3100 m; hasta 3350 m en el valle de Cochabamba. |
| Behavior Comportamiento | Solitary or in pairs. Terrestrial and arboreal; forages in dense vegetation on or close to ground; rummages in leaf litter, inspects crevices in rock faces. Does not cock tail. Quite vocal at dawn and dusk except in austral winter. | Solitario o en parejas.
